Saratoga County is a county in New York State. It is located north of Albany and generally considered part of the Capital District region. The northern part of the county is within the Adirondacks and considered part of the North Country Region. Saratoga County covers eight hundred and forty-four square miles. It contains nineteen towns and two cities., the total population of the county is approximately 236,000. Saratoga County was formed in 1791. Its name is derived from the Iroquois language. In their tongue, ‘saratoga’ means ‘the hill beside the river’.
