Galway is a village in Saratoga County, New York. It is located at the southeastern foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, approximately forty miles northwest of Albany. The village is within the Town of Galway. The village is one the smallest in New York State. There are only two roads that cross through the village, both of which intersect in the center of the village. Running north-south is County Route 147 (CR-147). Taking Route 147 north brings you to the Hamlet of Kimball Corners. Taking Route 147 south brings to the Village of Scotia. County Route 45 crosses in the center of the village. On the eastern side of CR-147, it is named East Street. On the western side of CR-147, it is named West Street. Taking Route 45 to the east eventually leads you to the Town of Milton. Taking Route 45 to the west leads you to the Hamlet of West Galway.
There are two courts in the village, the Galway Town Court and the Galway Village Court. The two courts share a courtroom and some court personnel. The village court has jurisdiction only over village matters. The town court has jurisdiction only over the rest of the town, outside of the village. Traffic stops can be conducted by New York State Police and Saratoga County Sheriff's Office.
