Day, New York
Day is a large and rural town in Saratoga County, New York. The town is within the Adirondack Park, approximately sixty-five miles north of Albany. , the town has an estimated 1,000 residents. The town encompasses the hamlets of Allentown, Conklingville, Crowville, Day Center, Lakeview, and Overlook. The town was established in 1819 under the name “Concord.” A few years later it came to the town’s attention that there was a pre-existing town of Concord in New York (this happened often) so they changed the name. The name Day was in honor of a town supervisor Eliphaz Day who had recently drowned while moving logs down a river. In 1930, the Great Sacandaga Lake was created. Portions of the town were flooded and remain to this day at the bottom of the lake.
