Rossie is a rural town in St. Lawrence County, New York. It is located at the western foothills of the Adirondack State Park and is considered part of the North Country region. Rossie is around forty miles north of the City of Watertown. , the town population was estimated at 900. Rossie was established in 1813 and named after the sister of an early landowner. The town’s early population mostly consisted of the mining and smelting of iron. The town’s first furnace was built in 1815. It was also the first furnace to be built in Upstate New York.

It passes through the hamlet of Wegatchie. Near the southeast corner of town, yet another road runs north-east and south-west. That road is US-11. US-11 is a one thousand six-hundred-mile-long highway that runs across the eastern coast of the United States. Its northern terminus is the US and Canada border crossing. Its southern terminus is in New Orleans, Louisiana. Heading north on US-11 from Rossie will bring you to the neighboring village of Gouverneur. Heading south on US-11 will bring you to the neighboring village of Antwerp. Any traffic ticket issued on this portion of US-11 will be made answerable to the Rossie Town Court like any other ticket issued in town.
