Worth is a rural town in Jefferson County, New York., the town had a population of approximately 198. This made it the seventh smallest town, by population, in New York State. The town size is forty-four square miles, with most of it within the Tug Hill State Forest. The area provides for various winter recreational activities. The closest city is Watertown, around thirty miles northwest. Syracuse is around sixty miles south. The town was named after William Worth, a commander in the Continental Army. Worth encompasses the hamlets of Diamond, Frederick Corners, Seven by Nine Corners, Stears Corners, Worth (formerly Worthville) and Worth Center.
