Hope is the name of a rural town in Hamilton County, New York. It is within the Adirondack Park and is considered part of the North Country region. , the town was home to approximately 359 residents. It makes up about forty-two square miles. The eastern side of town is entirely uninhabited. It is forestland and lakes. All residents live along New York State 30, which runs north-south along the western side of town There are two hamlets in the town: Hope (previously Hope Center) and Hope Falls. The small city of Gloversville is around twenty-five miles south.
The town of Hope was formed in 1818. Its heyday was in the 1850’s when the town had sawmills and mining industries. The town population was over a thousand. Several hotels were built. With the subsequent industrial decline, businesses closed, and people moved out. By the 1900’s the town had a few hundred residents, similar to today's population.

Hope’s main road is New York State Route 30. It runs north and south along the Sacandaga River on the western side of the town. This road passes through the hamlet of Hope as it traverses town. Taking NYS-30 south will bring you to the neighboring town of Benson. Going north will bring you to the neighboring town of Wells. Hope Falls is accessible from Creek Road, a small local road that runs east from NYS-30.
