Benson is a rural town in Hamilton County, New York. It is within the Adirondack Park and considered part of the “North Country” region., only approximately 231 people lived in Benson. It is the 8th least populated town in New York State. The closest metropolitan area to Benson is the small city of Gloversville, around twenty-five miles south. Albany is around sixty-five miles to the southeast. The town covers eighty-three square miles, and it is mostly mountainous forestland.
