Henderson is a town in Jefferson County, New York. It is part of the North Country region. It covers a total area of fifty-three square miles and is located along the shore of Lake Ontario, southwest of Watertown. The town was formed in 1806 and named after William Henderson, the original landowner. Henderson is made up of several hamlets. Their names are Butterville, Clark Point, Henderson, Henderson Harbor, Hungerford Corners, and Roberts Corners., the town population was approximately 1,447.

Henderson’s main road is New York State Route 3 (NYS-3). It runs north-northeast and south across town. After reaching Henderson Harbor, it runs parallel to Lake Ontario. NYS-3 intersects New York State Route 178 just west of the hamlet of Henderson. NYS-178 is the town’s primary east and west bound road. In the south part of town, NYS-3 also intersects County Route 152 (CR-152). This is another main road that runs east and west along the town’s south boundary.
