Ellisburg is a town in Jefferson County, New York. It is located approximately fifty miles north of Syracuse and approximately twenty-five miles south of Watertown. The town is considered part of the North Country region., the town population was estimated at 3,200. Ellisburg was named after landowners with the same last name. The town was first settled around 1797. In 1803, the town was officially formed. Ellisburg covers a total area of about eighty-seven square miles. It contains many hamlets and two villages. The hamlets are Belleville, Giddingsville, Hossington, North Landing, Pierrepont Manor, Saxe Corner, South Landing, Wardell Settlement, and Woodville. The villages are Ellisburg and Mannsville.
