Webb, New York
Webb is a town in Herkimer County, New York. It is the largest town by land size in New York State, covering four hundred and eighty four square miles. The vast majority of the town is uninhabited wilderness of the Adirondack Mountains. As of April of 2022, the population of Webb was 1,755. The area of Webb was settled in 1837 and established as a town in 1897. The town was named after William Seward Webb, president of several railway companies in Upstate New York. Webb’s railroads opened up the Adirondacks to tourism and business in the late 1800’s. The town encompasses numerous hamlets. They are: Big Moose, Eagle Bay, Keepawa, McKeever, Minnehaha, Moshier Falls, Old Forge, Stillwater, Thendara and Woods Lake. Old Forge is the main population area and location of most town offices.
