Summit, New York
Summit is a town in Schoharie County, New York. , it had an estimated population of 1,100. The town covers a total area of thirty-seven and a half square miles. It is located fifty-five miles west of Albany. The town derived its name from the summit of a nearby mountain, Mt. Wharton. It was believed at the time that Mt. Wharton had the highest elevation in all of Schoharie County. The town is home to hamlets named Beards Hollow, Charlottesville, Lutheranville (formerly Tar Hollow due to a tarring and feathering incident) and Summit (formerly Summit Four Corners).
