Stony Creek is a town in Warren County, New York. The town is within the Adirondack Park. It is located just west of Lake George and approximately sixty miles north of Albany. CR-76 enters from Thurman at the north-east corner and heads south until it reaches the hamlet of Stony Creek. As this road enters the hamlet, it meets with two other county routes. These roads are County Route 3 (Warrensburg Road) and County Route 12 (Hadley Road). Both run south-southeast from the hamlet. CR-12 leaves town and enters Hadley at the southeast corner. CR-3 turns north as it approaches the Hudson River and follows it upstream until it leaves through the north-east corner of town, just past the Stony Creek Ranch Golf Course.

The town of Stony Creek lacks a local police department. Law enforcement services are provided by the local New York State Police Barracks and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. The authorities conduct traffic stops with probable cause of a traffic violation and issue citations as necessary.
