Stark is a town in Herkimer County, New York. It is in the Mohawk Valley region, around sixty miles west of Albany and around thirty miles east of Utica. , the town had an estimated population of just 700, spread over thirty-one square miles. The town consists of four hamlets named Deck, Smith Corners, Starkville, and Van Hornesville. The town was formed in 1828 and named after Revolutionary War general John Stark.
