Russia is the name of a rural town in Herkimer County, New York. The town broke off from the town of Norway in 1806. A number of towns in Herkimer are named after European countries or cities. The town of Russia is located approximately fifteen miles north of the City of Utica, on the southern edge of the Adirondack Mountains. , the estimated town population was 2,800. The exception is County Route 184 (Pardeville Road), which runs along the town’s east and north boundary. The road leads motorists to the Hamlet of Grant.
