Rensselaerville is a town in Albany County, New York. It is in a rural area, around twenty-five miles from the State Capital. , the town population was estimated at 1,800. Rensselaerville has a total area of 62 square miles and consists of a few hamlets. The town is one of the early settlements in the United States. Rensselaerville is named after Stephen Van Rensselaer, who fought in the Revolutionary War and was involved in public service throughout his life. It is said that his vote decided the winner of the 1825 presidential election, resulting in the victory of John Quincy Adams.
