Petersburgh is a rural town in Rensselaer County, New York. It is in the far eastern part of New York State, bordering with the states of Vermont and Massachusetts to the east. It is one of the few towns in New York that border two different states. Petersburgh is considered part of the Capital District region and is roughly thirty miles northeast of downtown Albany. , Petersburgh was home to approximately 1,600 residents. The town makes up roughly forty-two square miles and encompasses the hamlets of North Petersburgh and Petersburgh (formerly South Petersburgh and Rensselaer Mills).
