Orleans is a town in Jefferson County, New York. It is located at the northeast corner of Lake Ontario, at the international border with Canada. The Thousand Islands Border Crossing leads between Canada and the United States through Orleans. Orleans is a large town, making up roughly seventy-eight square miles. The northern part of town consists of various bodies of water, islands from the Thousand Islands, and state forests. The southern part of town is mostly farmland.
