Minden is a town in Montgomery County, New York. It is located approximately sixty miles northwest of Albany. The town is considered part of the Mohawk Valley region. Minden is named after a large town of the same name in Germany. It was the point of origin of early settlers. The Village of Fort Plain is partially in Minden and partially in the Town of Canajoharie. The village is the location of town offices and most town businesses. Minden also encompasses ten small hamlets., the total town population was estimated at 3,850.
