Madrid is a town in St. Lawrence County, New York. It is located in the northwest corner of New York, around ten miles south and ten miles east of the Canadian border. The closest city is Ogdensburg, around twenty miles southeast. The area is considered part of the North Country region. Most of Madrid is farmland. The town hamlets are Chipman, Madrid, Madrid Springs, and Turnbull Corner., Madrid’s population was estimated at 1,750. The town is named after a famous city in Spain, but it is not pronounced the same. Locals do not pronounce it “mah-DRID”, but MA-drid”.

In the southern part of town, NY-310 meets the south portion of NYS-345 and County Route 38 (Madrid-Norfolk Road) and 44 (Norfolk-Chamberlain Corners Road) in the eastern corner of town.
