Lawrence is a town in St. Lawrence County, New York. It is located at the northern foothills of the Adirondack State Park, roughly twenty miles south of the Canadian border., the town was home to an estimated 2,000 residents. Lawrence encompasses the hamlets of Coteys Corner, Fort Jackson, Lawrenceville, McEwens Corners, Nicholville, North Lawrence, Taylors Corners, and Wagstaff Corners.

The town’s main road is US Route 11 (US-11). US-11 is a 1,645 mile highway that runs north-east and south-west across the eastern coast of the United States. Its northern terminus is the United States- Canada Border Crossing in Rouses Point, New York. The southern terminus is in New Orleans, Louisiana. The portion of US-11 that passes through Lawrence does so in the north part of town. It serves as the main street of the town. New York State Route 11C is one road that meets US-11. From US-11, it runs north towards North Lawrence. After reaching the hamlet, it heads west until it leaves town. After NYS-11C crosses over US-11, it becomes County Route 55 (CR-55). This road is the town’s main north and south road. It runs until it reaches the town’s southern boundary. There it intersects with another road, New York State Route 118 (NYS-118). This road runs north-east and south-west through town.
The traffic tickets in Lawrence are issued by the New York State Police or the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office. There is no town police department. Most traffic stops are conducted on US-11. The most common charge on this road is speeding. The town speed limit, unless otherwise posted, does not exceed 55 miles per hour. Any ticket issued in St. Lawrence will be made answerable to the Lawrence Town Court (Lawrence Justice Court).
