Jackson is a town in Washington County, New York. It is around forty miles northeast of Albany along the Vermont state line. Jackson is considered part of the Capital District region. The town was formed in 1815 and named after then General Andrew Jackson who went on to become President. To this day, the town maintains a number of historical structures, including three covered bridges. Jackson covers a total area of thirty-seven and a half square miles. Agriculture is the town’s main industry and includes diverse farming endeavors, including an alpaca farm. Jackson contains three hamlets named Eagleville, Shushan, and Battenville. , Jackson's population was approximately 1,700.
