Hopkinton, New York
Hopkinton is a large town in St. Lawrence County, New York. The majority of the town is uninhabited forestland of the Adirondack Park. A small northern section of the town consists of some farms and small residential communities. The overall size of Hopkinton is one hundred and eighty-seven square miles. , the town population was estimated at 1,200. Hopkinton consists of the hamlets named Catherineville, Fort Jackson, Hopkinton, Lake Ozonia, and Nicholville. It was first settled around 1802 and named after the settlement founder, Roswell Hopkins.

Hopkinton’s main road is the east and west bound New York State Route 118 (NYS-118). This road crosses town in the very north portion. It passes through the hamlets of Beechertown and Hopkinton. Two other hamlets, Fort Jackson and Catherineville, are accessible from New York State Route 72 and County Route 49 (Fort Jackson-Hopkinton Road). CR-49 runs north and south into Fort Jackson. NYS-72 heads southwest towards Catherineville. The remaining south portion of town past NYS-118 is rural and undeveloped. The southern part of town is accessible by local one lane roads. These roads lead back to CR-49 and NYS-118.
The Hopkinton Town Court (Hopkinton Justice Court) is responsible for adjudicating all traffic tickets issued in town. Court sessions are held twice a month. The court is located in the town hall building. It was built in 1870 and added to the National Registry of Historic Places in 2013.
