Hoosick is a town in Rensselaer County, New York. It is located approximately thirty miles northeast of Albany and is considered part of the Capital District region. The eastern border of the town is the Vermont State line., the town population was estimated at 7,000. The town is named after the Hoosic River that runs through the town. Hoosic is a Native American word whose meaning is not clear. The town of Hoosick includes the village of Hoosick Falls, several hamlets, and various communities.
