Greenville is a town in Greene County, New York. It is located in the northern foothills of the Catskill Mountains, approximately thirty miles southwest of Albany., the town population was estimated at 3,800. A number of hamlets make up the town. They are known as East Greenville, Freehold, Gayhead, Greenville Center, Newrys, Norton Hill, Result, Surprise, and West Greenville.

New York State Route 32 (NYS-32) is Greenville’s arterial road. It runs north-south through the middle of town. The north portion of town is served by New York State Route 81 (NYS-81) and County Route 26 (CR-26). NYS-81 enters town from the west and passes through the Hamlets of Norton Hill and West Greenville. It intersects with NYS-32 and then heads south towards the Hamlet of Surprise. CR-26 branches off NYS-81 and enables access to East Greenville and the north-east portion of town. County Route 67 (CR-67) serves the town along the south town line and enables passage to Freehold. County Route 41 (CR-41) serves the remaining south-east portion of town and acts as one of Greenville’s main roads. CR-41 meets County Route 35 (West Road) at the intersection of Greenville Center.
The Greenville Town Court handles all traffic violations in town. There is no local police department. Traffic citations in Greenville are issued by Troop F of the New York State Police and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. The court is located within “The Pioneer Insurance Building” at the intersection of State Route 81 and State Route 32. The Town of Greenville Offices now utilize this building.
