Gilboa does not have a police force to conduct traffic patrols. That responsibility falls on the New York State Police and the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Department. They issue tickets answerable to the Gilboa Town Court (Gilboa Justice Court). The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP) is authorized to issue tickets as well. This is because they protect the nearby watersheds that supply New York City with clean drinking water. The court deals with a wide range of violations, but the most common is speeding.
