German Flatts is a town in Herkimer County, New York. It is located approximately fifteen miles east of Utica and approximately eighty miles west of Albany. It is considered part of the Mohawk Valley region. German Flatts has two villages, Ilion and Mohawk. The town also encompasses the hamlets of Days Rock, Edicks, Fort Herkimer, and South Ilion. , the total population was estimated at 13,000.
