Esopus is a town in Ulster County, New York. It is located on the western bank of the Hudson River, just south of the small city of Kingston and approximately 100 miles north of New York City. The town is considered part of the Hudson Valley region. Esopus encompasses the hamlets of Connelly, Dashville, New Salem, Port Ewen, Rifton, St. Remy, Sleightsburgh, Ulster Park, Union Center, and West Park. The main population area is Port Ewen., the town had an estimated 9,600 residents.
