Ellenburg is a small and rural town in Clinton County, New York. It is located approximately ten miles south of the Canada-US border and is considered part of New York’s North Country region. , the town’s population was estimated at 1,800. The area was originally settled in the early 19th century and named after Ellen Murray, the daughter of a local landowner. During the Cold War, Ellenburg was the location of two strategically placed, operational, Atlas ICBM missile silos. They were active between 1962 and 1965.
