Durham is a town in Greene County, New York. It is located on the northern foothills of the Catskill Mountains, approximately forty miles southeast of the state capital, Albany., the town population was estimated at 2,500. Durham was settled in 1790 as the Town of Freehold. In 1805, the town took on its current name, being named after a town in Connecticut. Durham encompasses several hamlets. They are Cornwallville, Durso Corner, East Durham, East Windham, Hervey Street, Oak Hill, Sunside, South Durham, and West Durham.
