Durham is a town in Greene County, New York. It is thirty-seven miles southeast of the state capital, Albany. As of February of 2022, the town’s population was 2,955. Durham was settled in 1790 as the Town of Freehold. In 1805 the town took on its current name, being named after a town in Connecticut. Durham encompasses a number of hamlets. They are known as Cornwallville, Durso Corner, East Durham, East Windham, Hervey Street, Oak Hill, Sunside, South Durham and West Durham.
