Bleecker, New York
Bleecker is a town in Fulton County, New York. It is located at the southeast foothold of the Adirondack State Park. The town is approximately sixty miles northwest of Albany and a few miles north of the small city of Gloversville. Bleeker is a rural town of mostly forestland, covering sixty square miles. , the town had an estimated 500 residents. The town area was first settled around 1800. In 1831, the town was formally established and named after Barent Bleecker, one of the region’s original landowners. Like other nearby towns, its early development was a result of a lucrative lumber industry.

Entering from the western town line, it heads south after meeting County Route 125. This occurs just outside of the hamlet of Peters Corners. County Route 125 enters town in the north-east corner and heads southwest until it reaches County Route 112. Along the way it passes through several hamlets. These are Upper Benson, Tomantown and Peters Corners. The remaining hamlets (Lindsley Corners and Bleecker Center) found in the town center are accessible from both County Routes.
