Berlin is a town in Rensselaer County, New York. It is part of the Capital Region, roughly twenty-five miles east of Albany. The eastern town line is the Massachusetts State line. , the town’s population was estimated at 1,800. The hamlets of Berlin, Bucks Corner, and Center Berlin and Cherry Plain make up the town. A portion of Berlin’s southwest area encompasses the Cherry Plain State Park. The town was named after Berlin, a city in Germany. However, locals pronounce the town name as BER-lin, as opposed to the city pronunciation of Ber-LIN.
